Biographie

Dr. Caroline Holmqvist is a Scientific Fellow at the REPI. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the Swedish Defence University and a Research Associate at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI).

Her research concerns the phenomenon of war, war's contemporary expression, the possibilities for global politics and the relationship between politics and violence. Underpinning all of her research is the question of what it means to be human, and how human beings relate to one another - politically, ethically and philosophically.

Since 2014 she is working on a three-year research project on Time and Discourses of Global Politics together with Dr. Tom Lundborg at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI). The project concerns the significance of time and temporality for our understanding of global politics, including for the phenomenon of war. The research is funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Caroline has previously been a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for International Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science (2011-2013). She has also held positions at the Swedish International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the postdoc programme at Swedish Institute of International Affairs. Caroline holds a PhD in War Studies from King’s College London (2010) and an MSc and BSc with First Class Honours in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
