Civil society organisations and transitional justice in Burundi: when making is resisting
New Contribution to edited book by Gérard BIRANTAMIJE: "Civil society organisations and transitional justice in Burundi: when making is resisting" in Briony Jones and Julie Bernath (Eds.), Transitional justice and Resistance, London, Routledge, 2017, pp.76-95.
Abstract: Since the signing of the Arusha Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Burundi in 2000, the country has been committed to implementing transitional justice mechanisms, based both on the evolution of the local political situation and on international standards. Within this process many actors, including civil society organisations, are involved in the construction of a Burundian transitional justice model, an idea over which there is in fact limited consensus as the quotes cited above illustrate.
